Endless nature & boundless freedom:
Canada is vastness, wilderness and wonder all in one. Turquoise lakes, mighty mountains, endless forests - and right in the middle of it all: you. Whether by canoe, camper or hiking boot - this country changes your view of nature, time & yourself. And: the people are as friendly as you hear.
Canada highlights: My personal favorites
Banff & Jasper National Park
Pure postcard scenery: turquoise lakes, glaciers, moose & grizzlies - the Rockies show themselves from their most beautiful side here.
Vancouver (Iceland) - between sea & mountains
Outdoor right on your doorstep! Hiking, kayaking, cycling & sushi - Vancouver combines urban life with pure nature.
Between mirror-smooth lakes, quiet forests and campfire romance - paddling in Canada is an adventure with soul.
Canoeing in Ontario or Québec
My route suggestions for your trip to Canada
🚐 10-day Rockies road trip: Banff, Jasper & glacier dream
Start in Calgary, then along the Icefields Parkway through the most beautiful corners of the Canadian Rockies. Experience the turquoise-blue Lake Louise, hike to Peyto Lake and marvel at glacier tongues in the Columbia Icefield. Campfire in the evening, moose in the morning - a nature adventure with lots of “wow”.
🍁 2 weeks in Eastern Canada: cities, lakes & Indian summer
Toronto with CN Tower & multicultural vibe, Niagara Falls to marvel at, on to Ottawa & Montréal for French flair. Then relax in the Laurentides or paddle in Algonquin Park. Ideal in the fall, when maple forests are ablaze. Canada shows its colorful side here.
🏕️ 3 weeks wilderness & west coast: Vancouver Island to Rockies
Start in Vancouver, cross over to Vancouver Island - whale watching, surfing in Tofino, hiking in the rainforest. Then back by ferry & via Whistler, Kelowna & Okanagan Valley to the Rockies. This route combines coastal feeling with mountain adventure - including wildlife and far-reaching views.
🧭 Extra tip: Yukon or Nova Scotia for the unknown
Fancy some lonely roads & real wilderness? Then head north (Yukon) or east (Nova Scotia & Cape Breton). Less visited, but full of magic - here you'll find peace, stars and stories around the campfire.
Costs and budget
Approximately how much does a trip to Canada cost?
✈️Flights & arrival
Direct flights from Germany approx. 600-900 €. It's worth booking early. Canada is big - open jaw flights e.g. Vancouver in, Calgary out are ideal.
🚐 Rental car & camper
Camper from approx. 80-130 €/day, rental car from 40 €. Fuel cheaper than in Europe. Make sure you have unlimited mileage & insurance.
🏕️ Accommodation & meals
Campsites from €10-30, motels from €60, hotels more expensive. Food: Self-catering saves a lot, restaurants tend to be in the medium to higher price segment.
🎟️Entrance fees & activities
Parks with “Discovery Pass” (approx. 80 CAD/year per vehicle). Activities such as kayaking, zipline or whale watching cost 50-150 CAD.
💡 My tip: Supermarkets such as “Save-On” or “Canadian Superstore” offer cheap food - and often fresh, healthy options. And: always take bear spray with you when you go hiking!
Personal tips
My best learnings for the road - straight from my adventures.
🔥 Book campsites early - especially in the Rockies!
Popular places like Lake Louise or Jasper fill up quickly. It's best to book 2-3 months in advance - or spontaneously drop in very early in the morning.
🛶 Paddle your own canoe
Canoeing in Ontario or Québec was one of my highlights. You don't need to be a professional - many rental companies give a short introduction.
Jasper is a light sanctuary - here you can see stars like never before. Take a blanket with you, lie on your back - and marvel.
🌌 Stargazing in the Jasper Dark Sky Preserve
My favorite moments in pictures
From glaciers plunging into lakes, to campfires under the Northern Lights, to moose on the side of the road - Canada has filled my heart with vastness. Here I share the most magical moments with you - between fir trees, tracks and total freedom.
