Between jungle, beach & spirituality

Indonesia is more than just Bali - over 17,000 islands, untouched nature, bubbling volcanoes, coral reefs and spiritual temples await you. You can surf in Uluwatu in the morning, hike to the crater lake at lunchtime and dance under palm trees in the evening. Adventure and relaxation go hand in hand here - whether you're a backpacker or a road tripper.

Indonesia highlights: My personal favorites

Climb Mount Bromo at sunrise or Ijen with its blue fire - a nature experience you will never forget.

Snorkeling & Diving in Raja Amat

Turquoise waters, manta rays and steep cliffs - the small island off Bali offers dream beaches & top underwater spots.

Art, spirituality, rice terraces and yoga retreats - Ubud is the cultural center of the island and a place to arrive.

Ubud - the heart of Bali
My route suggestions for your trip to Indonesia

🏝️ Experience Bali for 10 days: beaches, temples & rice terraces
Start in Canggu with surfing flair and sunset cocktails, discover Ubud's mystical temples and rice terraces, visit the Pura Lempuyang (“Gates of Heaven”) and find peace during a yoga session in the jungle. A route between soul & surf.

🌋 2 weeks Java & Bali: volcanoes, culture & nature
From Jakarta to the heart of Java: climb Mount Bromo at sunrise, marvel at Borobudur and fly on to Bali. Spirituality awaits you here in Ubud, rice fields, black beaches and tropical waterfalls. This route perfectly combines action with relaxation.

🚤 3 weeks island hopping: Bali, Nusa, Lombok & Gili
Start in Bali, take the speedboat to Nusa Penida for dream beaches, continue to Lombok for volcano trekking and dive with sea turtles on the Gili Islands. A perfect mix of adventure, beach life and island flair - without any stress, but full of highlights.

🧭 Extra tip: Raja Ampat - the hidden paradise
A real adventure for explorers: By boat through crystal-clear water, snorkeling among manta rays and untouched reefs, sleeping in simple homestays on stilts - Raja Ampat is wild, remote and simply magical. For all those who love pure nature.

✈️ Flüge & Anreise
Flights to Denpasar (Bali) from €650-900, depending on the season. Open jaw flights via Singapore or Bangkok are often cheaper.

🛵 Scooter, boat & domestic transportation
Scooters from 5 €/day, local buses very cheap, speedboats (e.g. to Gili/Nusa) approx. 10-20 €. Domestic flights e.g. Bali-Flores for under €50.

🛏️ Accommodation & Catering
Homestays and hostels from €10, nice bungalows from €25. Local food (nasi goreng!) often for less than €3. Luxury is of course also possible - for little money.

🎟️ Entrance fees & activities
Many nature spots cost only 1-5 €, volcano tours or boat trips 20-80 €. Diving trips approx. 50 €/day.

💡 My tip: Always negotiate in a friendly manner, whether at markets or when renting a scooter. And: Travel insurance including medical cover is mandatory in Indonesia - so make sure you take out this beforehand!

Personal tips

My best learnings for the road - straight from my adventures.

🛵 Riding a scooter with respect & helmet

The most beautiful way to explore Bali or Lombok - but only with a helmet and a careful riding style.

🍛 Warungs instead of restaurants

The best dishes are served in simple family kitchens by the roadside - fresh, cheap and authentic.

Whether coral reef or monitor lizard - keep your distance, no touching, no feeding. Indonesia is wild & wonderful if we protect it.

🐢 Respect for nature & animals
My favorite moments in pictures

From temples at sunset to jungle showers under waterfalls and Gili turtles in the turquoise sea - here I share my very personal memories of a time when I walked barefoot through rice terraces and found the real island feeling.
